Overview
Secure QR & Link Scanner is a security tool designed to analyze QR codes, barcodes, and links. To provide comprehensive protection, the app employs real-time cloud analysis to verify links against known threats whenever an internet connection is available. This is complemented by on-device processing for offline efficiency and speed.
Data Collected
- Scans & inputs: QR/Barcode contents and text/URL inputs are processed for risk analysis. The app does not require an account.
- On-device storage: Scan history, theme, language, consent status, and premium flag are stored locally via AsyncStorage and SecureStore.
- Remote risk check: When you scan or enter a URL and the app performs a remote risk check, the entered URL is sent to a server endpoint (for example /api/riskcheck) to obtain a risk result. Network requests may include standard metadata (e.g., IP address, device/network info) as part of normal internet communications.
- Advertising: If ads are shown, Google AdMob may collect or receive device identifiers and usage/diagnostic information as described in Google’s policies.
- Purchases: Premium/Remove Ads purchases are handled by Apple App Store / Google Play. The app does not process sensitive payment card data.
Use & Processing
Local Security Analysis
- Heuristic checks for suspicious URL patterns (e.g., IP-based hosts, uncommon ports, potential brand spoofing).
- Local classification of QR formats (URL, Wi‑Fi, contact, etc.).
Remote Risk Check (Online)
- When you scan or enter a URL while you have an internet connection, the app may query a remote endpoint with that URL to check external risk lists.
- The response may include a risk status and the sources where the URL/domain was found.
- Ads: Banner, interstitial, rewarded, and rewarded-interstitial ads may be shown depending on app settings and premium status.
- Non-personalized ads: The app may request non-personalized ads where supported.
Third Parties
- Google AdMob (ads): Google Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play (purchases): the respective store’s privacy and payment policies apply.
Google may collect information such as unique identifiers, device and app information, IP address, and interactions with ads, as described in their policy.
Permissions
- Camera: used for QR/Barcode scanning.
- Media/Gallery: used to scan from photos and to save generated QR images.
- Sharing: used to share generated content via the system share sheet.
- Tracking permission (iOS): if requested, used for ad personalization where applicable.
Data Retention
The app stores history, theme, language, and premium status on-device only. You can clear history within the app. Third-party services (ads, stores) retain data according to their own policies.
Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed to children. Ad settings depend on your device and store policies.
